When I was in late elementary school, I was bored in school and had a stressful home life, but I had a high IQ. Many teachers did not understand me and didn't take the initiative to try. However, there was one principal of my school who took me under his wing and decided to figure out why I acted how I did. His name was Dr. Julian King, and he was a caring educator who made it a priority to get to know his students and their personal struggles. He tested my IQ, and he then determined that I just needed more outlets to express myself. Once he stepped into my life, he turned my young life around, I was inspired to become a teacher. At first, I knew I wanted to work with young people, but I wasn't exactly sure what career path that would take me down. Other people thought that I would become a teacher one day. For a period of time, I simply had no goals and no clear idea what I wanted to do with my life. Then, I stood in front of a classroom, and -- it felt like home. I then knew I wanted to be a teacher, and my focus helped me grow as a student.
